Electrical Engineer

Job Type Full-time

Hours 37.5 hours per week
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Carrying out the electrical engineering design for a range of commercial and residential buildings.
  • Configuring, installing and commissioning KNX and smart automation systems for energy efficiency, integrating intelligent lighting while maintaining user comfort.
  • Ensuring all jobs are tested, verified and documented according to BS 7671, and maintaining technical documentation.
  • Designing professional lighting using DIALux Evo and developing coordinated electrical drawings and layouts using AutoCAD MEP.
  • Drafting full Electrical Installation Condition Reports for commercial clients and landlords, demonstrating detailed inspection and testing in accordance with BS 7671, and documenting C1/C2/C3 coded observations with the appropriate remedies.
  • Carrying out complete wiring works for domestic, industrial and commercial premises, including new circuit installations, consumer unit upgrades and electrical containment, in accordance with BS 7671 and the specific project specifications.
  • Supervising and monitoring the performance of all electrical installations, building services and smart automation systems to ensure they operate efficiently, reliably and safely.
  • Carrying out initial verification and periodic inspection of domestic, industrial and commercial installations in accordance with both BS 7671 and GN3, identifying defects and potential safety risks.
  • Determining the appropriate installation methods, suitable equipment and materials for the project specifications, and establishing the technical requirements of both electrical and automation systems.
  • Maintaining compliance by ensuring that electrical and building automation systems are designed, tested and installed in accordance with relevant standards and our contractual obligations.
  • Providing clients with post-installation technical support to maintain system integrity and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Designing and configuring control and monitoring systems for electrical and KNX/DALI building automation installations, ensuring that system operation, performance and safety are assessed in accordance with the project specifications and standards.
Key Skills
Experience in Electrical Engineering (compulsory)
Electrical Engineering degree (preferred)
Electrical load and maximum-demand calculations
Cable sizing, selection and voltage-drop calculations
Reading and producing technical drawings and documentation
Short-circuit analysis and protective-device selection
Installation of emergency lighting
Strong understanding of BS 7671
Earthing, bonding and lightning protection
